PROFESSIONAL PROFILE
Mr. Kopchick’s state and federal court practice focuses on business litigation, defense of legal malpractice and medical malpractice claims, professional liability defense, appellate litigation, criminal defense, internal investigations and family law.Mr. Kopchick joined Haar & Woods, LLP in October 2014 and became a partner in 2019. Prior to joining Haar & Woods, LLP, Mr. Kopchick was an Associate in the Securities Litigation and White Collar Defense Group at Goodwin Procter, LLP in Boston, Massachusetts. Mr. Kopchick graduated cum laude from Harvard Law School in 2011. While in law school, he spent two years as a member of the Harvard Legal Aid Bureau, where he served as lead counsel in family law and administrative matters, and received the Betty Allebach Award honoring commitment and service to the Harvard Legal Aid Bureau. Mr. Kopchick also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Yale University. In 2018, Mr. Kopchick was recognized with an Up & Coming Award by Missouri Lawyers Media. He has also been recognized as a Missouri-Kansas Super Lawyer in business litigation, and recognized by The Best Lawyers in America in the practice area of Appellate Litigation.

- Represented lawyers and law firms in defense of legal malpractice claims arising in various contexts, including securities law, trust and estates and transactional matters.
- Represented medical providers and physicians in medical malpractice and wrongful death actions.
- Represented private university in litigation challenging its student disciplinary process.
- Represented major regional health system in litigating and resolving dispute with Bermuda insurer over coverage of $28 million medical malpractice judgement.
- Represented employer in successful defense on appeal of action by independent contractor for wrongful termination.
- Represented plaintiff on appeal to attain affirmance of $25 million verdict in premises liability case.
- Represented title insurer in successful appeal from jury verdict finding breach of title insurance policy.
- Represented real estate purchasers against shopping mall owner/seller in successfully obtaining $870,000 judgment.
- Represented individuals and companies in commercial litigation, business and contract disputes.
- Represented multiple individuals and companies in trial and appellate court proceedings seeking to compel arbitration under the Federal Arbitration Act and the Missouri uniform Arbitration Act.
